Welcome to the community registration site for the Stop Hunger Now event at VT to benefit the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. This event is sponsored by Blacksburg United Methodist Church and the Center for Student Engagement and Community Partnerships/VT-ENGAGE. This event has been made possible through the generous donations of Blacksburg United Methodist Church, Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Blacksburg Christian Church, the Unitarian Universalist congregation of Blacksburg, St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, T. Marshall Hahn, Frank and Cheryl Beamer, and Georgia Anne Snyder-Falkinham. This is a special service project where community members will volunteer side-by-side with Virginia Tech students. We encourage you to participate.

Rice Packaging Event to Benefit Haiti

There are four shifts available to volunteer: 7AM - 9AM, 10AM - 12PM, 1PM - 3PM or 3PM - 5PM

We need 2000 volunteers to complete this rice packaging event to benefit Haiti.

Volunteer Descriptions

Set-Up Volunteers (no longer available) - 30 to 40 volunteers are needed for this event.

Are you an early riser? Help us help Haiti Saturday, October 2 from 7-9 a.m.!

Arrive bright and early to set up equipment that will help volunteers pack over a million meals that will be sent directly to Haiti. A light breakfast will be served. Wake up early with us to share in service to the people of Haiti with Stop Hunger Now!


Food Packing Volunteers - 600 volunteers are needed per shift for this event.

Want to have a blast and help feed over a million people?

Come volunteer Saturday, October 2 at the Stop Hunger Now: Fall Day of Service. The meals YOU package will be sent directly to Haiti with enough food to feed a million people. As always, it's a football weekend, but don't worry! While we work, we'll watch the Hokies take it to N.C. State on a 20- foot projection screen inside the Commonwealth Ballroom in Squires. Sign up below for the shift or shifts of your choice. The event runs all day, with the first shift starting at 10 a.m. Don't wait. Sign up now to have fun and help feed people in Haiti!


Student Leaders - 50 volunteers are needed ALL DAY for this commitment (9am-5pm).

Be a leader in the fight against hunger!

We're looking for 50 student leaders to help coordinate the Fall Day of Service on Saturday, October 2. You'll supervise volunteers and train them during all 3 shifts on how to package more than a million meals that will be sent from campus directly to Haiti. Join us from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Commonwealth Ballroom in Squires. During that time, you'll work on three different shifts with up to 700 other volunteers. Snacks will be provided throughout the day. In addition, a special lunch will be served to you and the other student leaders. This event is a way for you to make a big difference and be part of a fun event from start to finish."
