VT-ENGAGE
Teach for Jamie
Teach for Jaimie, organized by Virginia Tech students in the Foreign Language Department, was established in remembrance of Herr Jamie Bishop, their beloved teacher. The program began at the start of the fall semester of 2008, led by German major Betsy Potter. This special German language program is being offered free of charge to students at Beeks Elementary School in Blacksburg, VA. Teach for Jamie is modeled after the French language program, Teach for Madame.
Forty nine students in grades K-5 are participating in this program at Beeks. Plans are underway to expand this program to additional elementary schools in Blacksburg each semester.
